The 2020 fantasy baseball season was the first of its kind. COVID-19 derailed the start of the season for all of baseball, leaving many fans worrying if there would even be a season at all.
In line with every season prior, the Boston Fantasy Baseball League draft was scheduled for late March. Due to the pandemic however, the Major League Baseball season was delayed, and thus the fantasy baseball season, as well. As fantasy baseball managers anxiously awaited whether or not we would get a first pitch to the 2020 season, MLB confirmed plans to start their regular season at the end of July. The BFBL decided to draft at the end of May.
With the teams drafted and the regular season underway, fantasy manager would have a sprint of a season ahead of them. Due to a shortened MLB season, the 2020 fantasy baseball season was only a seven-week regular season, with only four teams making the playoffs, in a two-week format.
Injured lists and NA roster positions were expanded for every team and this season saw as many add/drop transactions within the seven-week regular season that we normally see in the typical 21-week format.
